As children, we learned about ourselves in the reflection of others. If we were seen with love, compassion and presence, or if we were ignored, seen as too much, or unimportant.
These early verbal and non-verbal reflections shaped our sense of identity.
Every look, gesture, word, and tone reflected back to us becomes part of our identity.
Our mirror neurons, the part of our nervous system that allows us to feel with others and learn through imitation, shape the earliest sense of “I.”
Those reflections are still living, not just in our bodies, but also in our life. They still shape how we are mirrored in our personal relationships, groups, or in a society.
In this class, we explore these questions through movement:
•How does my body move when it is alone, without any mirrors?
• What somatic memories am I still holding on to and that are still shaping my reality?
• Can I begin to feel who I am beyond the reflections I once depended on?
Deeper Truth
Because here’s the deeper truth:
When there are no mirrors, when it’s just me, I can begin to touch something that has always been there.
The essence of me.
Essence doesn’t need to be mirrored.
It doesn’t need to be met.
It just is.
And from that place of is-ness, we can allow ourselves to be, to shape, to change , and even to be mirrored differently.
Through guided somatic exercises, breath, and spontaneous movement, this class becomes a space to remember who you are when no one is looking… and to bring that truth back into connection.
No dance experience needed. Only curiosity.
What is a movement class?
Movement classes offer personal development through movement. Each session encourages a connection with your body, explores emotions, and accesses the wisdom of your soul.
By integrating mindful embodied practices and conscious dance, these classes promote holistic integration, emotional release, authenticity, and inner harmony.
Movement practices have their roots in body-centered psychotherapy and have evolved over the years to incorporate various techniques aimed at emotional regulation and expression.
These practices include:
•Structured Movement and Breathing Exercises
•Conscious Dance and Shamanic Dance
•Storytelling, Meditation, and Embodied Imagination
•Authentic Movement
